What You'll Do: The Department of Youth Services provides stability, support, safety, and security for all employees of DYS.
The Cook 2 will provide valuable services to the Youth we serve.
Specifically, the Cook 2 will: Works under direction & requires thorough knowledge of food preparation, sanitation & storage & operation of food service equipment to provide application of food preparation, sanitation & storage of food for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility: preparation & cooking of foods & monitors service lines, loading of carts, storage of foods & general cleaning; operates commercial/standard kitchen equipment to cook foods; mixes salad & makes desserts, dressings & breads; prepares hot & cold beverages & special menu foods; slices meat & cheese; makes sandwiches; assembles fruit plates & relish trays; cleans & cuts vegetables & meats before cooking & mixing; cleans work area, equipment & utensils, ensures safety & sanitation of assigned area; supervise youth workers assigned to work area.
Sets up food-line & portions of food in compliance with established dietary requirements; sets up food carts according to daily recipes to be followed in food preparation area.
Maintains safety and sanitary conditions, packs left over food for proper storage.
Secures food storage areas and class A/B utensils.
Performs other cook duties as assigned (e.
g.
, attends meetings, trainings &/or seminars regarding food preparation, participates in all in-service trainings, etc.
