SUMMARY: Manages Tool Crib functions and provides Manufacturing Engineering support to assigned departments.
Manage Tool Crib inventory, tool calibration & tool repair; assess tool capabilities and repair strategies; analyze consumable usage.
Studies facilities and production processes, making recommendations to improve production efficiency, enhance process capability, and reduce manufacturing costs under general supervision.
JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage Tool Crib counter, repair and calibration functions.
• Manage Tool Crib employees.
• Maintain accurate inventory count of all items.
Prepare weekly reports.
Assess and propose improvements to purchase, receiving, storing and delivery of items.
• Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to the facility, equipment, and processes to improve quality, optimize process flow, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
• Perform fastening clamp load tests and recommend tools and fastening approaches.
Knowledge of fastening strategies and applications required.
• Develop and validate production processes, generating process documentation for critical assembly processes.
• Identifies projects, generates cost estimates, justifies projects for inclusion in proposed capital and expense budgets.
Projects include implementation, budgeting, and schedule planning to complete the project on-time and in budget.
• Actively participate in and support cost reduction, warranty reduction, Six Sigma, internal audit, BEST, and other plant initiatives.
• Improve safety and ergonomic practices.
• Develop, propose, and implement Capital Budget projects.
• Design and procure assembly aides and fixtures.
• Review proposed engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend revisions as necessary to ensure Design for Assembly.
• Plan for and support production implementation of new product introductions necessitated by design changes.
• Provide daily problem resolution support for production operations.
• Keep customers, managers, and peers informed of work progress, activities, problems, or opportunities of which they should be aware.
• May require minimal travel for training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Six Sigma Black Belt Training preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent is required
• Project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.
