Westwood Preparatory Academy is looking for a motivated, passionate Educational Aide to work with students in local residential treatment facilities.

Basic Function:
Perform duties that are instructional in nature and deliver direct services to students.
Serve in a position for which a teacher has primary control over the design and implementation of all educational programs and services.
Provide assistance to students with behavioral and social skills deficits.
When behavioral services are not needed the IA is expected to serve as a teacher’s aide, assisting with delivery of lesson, managing materials, and tutoring individuals or groups of students.
Employment Requirements:
* Two years of study at a community school or college ( 48 semester hours/ 72 Quarter hours) or a passing score on the Praxis II test for Paraprofessionals
* Obtain and maintain an Educational Aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education.
* Experience working with students with special/ behavioral needs
* Appropriate criminal record through both BCI & FBI
* Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and students
Responsibilities:
* Discuss assigned duties with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
* Assist in preparing lesson materials and displays in the classroom
* Tutor and assist students individually or in a small group in order to help master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented in class.
* When needed assist in supervising students in the classroom
* Enforce classroom policies and procedures
* Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of technology and other classroom equipment to prevent damage.
* Take attendance and pass out materials when necessary
* Attend weekly staff and teacher-based-team meetings
* Model appropriate behavior for students
* Demonstrate knowledge in de-escalating negative behaviors
* Track and report student behavior
* Communicate student concerns with teaching and administrative staff
* Proctor district and statewide tests when needed
* Provide instruction to students in the event of an absence
* Participate in both building and district wide professional development
* Perform any other task assigned as directed by the Director or District
