For the 2024-2025School YearCertified: Intervention SpecialistLocation: Circleville Middle School Salary: As per Master ContractPosition PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Essential FunctionsImplement the Districts philosophy of education and instructional program in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Operating Standards for Ohio Schools, and the provisions of State and Federal law.
Follow prescribed state standards, District curriculum guides, IEPs, approved accommodation plans, andapproved courses of study.
Demonstrate evidence of planning through written lesson plans that reflect the students IEPs, approvedaccommodation plans, and the Districts adopted courses of study.
Work in conjunction with District staff to promote instructional services and support for special needs students inaccordance with individualized education plans (IEPs) and/or other District-authorized accommodation plans.
Diagnose the learning needs of all students on an ongoing basis and focus instruction to address their identifiedneeds.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques, intervention strategies, technology, and media, consistent with theDistricts approved instructional program, physical limitations of the facility, and the needs and capabilities of theindividuals or student groups involved.
Assess student performance on an ongoing basis and report student progress to parents/legal guardians andappropriate school staff using methods approved by the District.
Respect the diversity of students culture, language skills, and experiences.
Create a learning environment that is physically and emotionally safe.
Collect necessary data, maintain records, and submit reports for services provided to students as required by law,the Ohio Department of Education, the United States Department of Education, District policy, and administrativeguidelines, as assigned.
Motivate students to work productively and to take responsibility for their own learning.
Maintain a class environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of thestudents.
Maintain organization, control of student behavior and discipline, and a positive learning environment.
Consult with students and parents as an advocate regarding student achievement, behavior management, learningchallenges, school programs, and related issues.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, District staff, and community.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with other teachers, administrators, and school/District staff.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Meet the professional expectations of attendance, suitable attire and decorum, participation in school and Districtmeetings/functions, and support of District initiatives.
Respond to specific requests from the Principal on matters affecting the program and building operation.
Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications ProfileCertification/License: Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License in the appropriate subject area or grade level(s).
Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Masters Degree in Special Education preferred, but not required.
Experience: Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
