Job Description JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW A Court Security Officer is a court officer who provides case, docket, and courtroom management to the Judge, and provides courtroom security.
A compliance officer is a clerk for the judge who oversees case flow, ensures filings meet rule requirements, and ensure file case compliance with rules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Assist the judge in handling his/her dockets and scheduling.
2.
Coordinate courtroom activity; monitor audio and video recording equipment; maintain necessary records; provide clerical support; and facilitate efficient docket flow in the courtroom to which the Judge’s Clerk-Compliance Officer-Court Security Officer is assigned.
3.
Act as liaison between the judge, attorneys, parties, Court and Clerk employees, law enforcement officers, criminal justice agencies, litigants, and the public.
4.
Ensure that all files, forms, and materials necessary for the efficient operation of the courtroom are in place, and secure case files, records, exhibits, and the courtroom.
5.
Review case files; provide case management; and prepare file documentation for entries in various types of proceedings.
6.
Carefully and accurately proofread documents.
7.
Perform other tasks as assigned, and may be assigned to other positions in other departments of the Court if needed.
COURT EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE The court expects the employee will adhere to all court policies, guidelines, practices and procedures; act as a role model both inside and outside the court; perform duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about meeting department productivity standards; and communicate regularly with supervisor about department issues in completing the duties and responsibilities of the position Salary: $20.

25 per hour depending on education and experience.
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Qualifications 1.
High school diploma or GED.
2.
Some knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and the flow of documents throughout the Court and the Clerk’s Office.
3.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, produce accurate work, and able to multi-task and function efficiently in a high-volume environment.
4.
Ability to read and copy records precisely; arrange items in alphabetical or numeric order; assess questions and provide information; sort items into categories according to established methods; complete routine forms; and lift up to 20 pounds.
5.
Knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and equipment.
6.
Proficiency in operating a personal computer and using, or being able to learn, Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel, and case management system.
7.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing in English to diverse audiences.
8.
Pleasant personality and ability to interact and maintain effective working relationships with judges, employees, and others conducting business with the Court.
9.
Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and the work environment expected of a representative of the Court.
10.
Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and excellent attendance record.
11.
Patience, objectivity, maturity, effectiveness under stress, initiative, and adaptability.
12.
Prior completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy or similar training or willingness to become OPOTA trained (40hrs of training paid for by the Court) in armed courtroom security.
Preferred Qualifications: 1.
Familiarity with court systems, procedures, and terminology.
2.
Prior work experience in a court or legal environment.
3.
Associates degree in related field, college degree, or paralegal degree and/or prior law enforcement experience, preferred, but not required.
Additional consideration will be given to individuals who have any of the following qualifications: previous experience in a court system or legal environment; knowledge of the functions and locations of other courts and government agencies; experience reading and working with the public.
