The Team Leader Pharmacy, is responsible for daily, front line supervision of operations for a specific area within the Pharmacy division.
The Pharmacist working in a Team Leader role may function as a subject matter expert or direct operations supervisor in an area of pharmacy such as: Clinical, Regulatory/Quality, IT, Finance, Education, Ambulatory, In Patient, or Supply Chain.
This position ensures compliance with all State and Federal laws, Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures, Regulatory and Accreditation Standards and sound pharmaceutical and professional ethics.
Decisions are made independently or in collaboration with others.
This position has access to patient, financial and organizational confidential information, non-controlled and controlled medications and certain hospital funds.
The TL pharmacy works with patients in all age groups.
This position is responsible for assisting the Director and Manager in the following areas:process improvement, strategic planning and quality improvement processes, staff development and competencies, hiring, disciplinary processes, staff performance evaluations, budget preparation and adherence, program development and collaboration with other departments, professionals, vendors and customers to achieve operational goals.
A strong self-drive along with a consistent display of high ethical and moral standards are essential.
This position may assume responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the director and may need to serve as a Pharmacist in Charge.
Job duties:
Assists to ensure department and staff compliance with all State and Federal laws, Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures, Regulatory and Accreditation Standards.
Identify and address both self and staff development needs and opportunities, including training and competencies for all staff.
Help develop, manintain, and enforce policies and procedures for the department.
Appropriately utilize disciplinary processes when necessary.
Recognize, lead, and seek opportunities for continuous process improvement and quality control measures.
Assist in strategic departmental planning and quality improvement with successful implementation.
Strong ability to develop and maintain cross departmental collaborations with positive outcomes.
Assist in the development and management of department budget(s) within established guidelines.
Uphold and promote high quality therapeutic and ethical treatment consistent with recognized professional guidelines.
Education:
Graduate of an Accredited Program in
Pharmacy
Residency or Advanced Degree
1-2 years Applicable Pharmacy experience
