Medical Assistant - Oncology (FT)
Organization: Highland District Hospital
Hours: 64-80 per pay period
Major Responsibilities:
Works under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians.
Performs duties for all aspects of care and treatment for the patient population.
Effectively communicates and interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health care team members.
Maintains positive behavior, approaches, attitudes, and commitment to patients, visitors and /or co-workers.
Has knowledge of the clinical interventions and equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served.
Greets patients and other customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner.
Provides any necessary instructions/directions.
Informs physician or office staff of patient or customer’s arrival.
Verifies and updates patient demographic information with each visit.
Provides patient with any necessary forms needing completion and obtains signatures as necessary.
Uses computer system to generate encounter forms needed for documenting patient visit charges.
Answers phone in a pleasant manner and deals with customers needs expeditiously.
Takes and delivers telephone messages as necessary.
Reviews patient schedule and makes daily patient appointment reminder telephone calls as necessary.
Uses computer systems to schedule patient follow-up appointments.
Schedules patient referrals to specialists for diagnostic testing or evaluation.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent.
Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Previous medical office experience preferred.
Must have a current CPR certification.
