The Section Technical Team Lead serves as the Technical Supervisor as defined in the CLIA regulations for an assigned laboratory section (see Job Specific Essential Functions for the work assigned to the Technical Supervisor).
The Section Technical Team Lead may also serve as the General Team Lead if that function is not covered by another position.
The Section Technical Team Lead is responsible for coordinating daily operations including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing and monitoring.
The position works closely with other laboratory Section Team Leads, laboratory management and pathologists.
The Section Technical Team Lead ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as ARMC and departmental policies.
Decisions are made independently as well as collaboratively.
The position involves direct patient care (laboratory testing) and access to confidential patient, organizational and employee information.
Required Educational Degree: Bachelor of Science Major/Area of Concentration: Medical Laboratory Science Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Required Experience: 4+ years performing high complexity testing in the respective lab section plus any other qualifications specified in the CLIA regulations Job Essential Functions: Technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory Participates in the selection of test methods, equipment, and reagents appropriate to the clinical use of the test.
Verification of test procedures and establishment of test characteristics including precision and accuracy Enrollment in and supervision of proficiency testing Establishing quality control testing to ensure acceptable analytic performance throughout the entire testing process Resolving technical problems and ensuring remedial actions are taken if tests deviate from performance specifications Ensuring that tests results are not reported until corrective actions have been taken Ensuring that individuals performing tests receive education and training appropriate for the type of services performed Evaluating the competency of testing personnel to perform and report tests accurately and proficiently Documenting performance of individuals performing high complexity tests semiannually for the first year, then annually thereafter Assists with scheduling as needed Encouraging a professional culture at work through positive communication and collaboration
