Job Summary
We are looking for dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Infection Control Nurses to join our highly respected team of professionals.
Infection Control nurses will have responsibility for the monitoring, prevention and control of infections and communicable diseases within the facility.
This person will also be responsible to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs and orientation throughout the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Job Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible to:
• Educate staff on infection prevention protocols and ensure facility is compliant with current infection control practices
• Gather and analyze infection data including tracking and trending by disease category
• Participate in evidenced-based decision making to strengthen facility standards of care
• Provide guidance and education to direct care staff on best nursing practices related to the management of infectious diseases
• Maintain resident and staff records in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and other agency privacy standards
• Report infectious disease trends to the management team, local, state and federal agencies as required
• Collaborate with external agencies, physicians and facility managers to ensure infection control best practices are developed and maintained throughout the facility
• Possess a strong understanding of long-term care federal and state regulations
• Provide patient education and teaching as needed
• Work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively to other team members
• Other duties as required
Education and Experience Requirements
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school with an active RN license preferred.
• Excellent organization and communication skills required
• Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure required
• Excellent customer service skills required
• CPR Certification required
• Basic computer skills required; experience with Point Click Care preferred
