The Plant Manager will lead the manufacturing operations for the facility in providing quality products at or below budgeted cost and delivering balanced results in safety, people, profitability, quality, service and speed to market.
The position will also be responsible for managing overall capacity utilization, ensuring plant operations are in compliance with regulatory and company quality attributes and the facility exceeds safety standards.
Essential Functions By example practice a high on-floor presence especially start-ups, line struggles, project work and first production tests/runs.
Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations to ensure the plant meets the daily production schedule while insuring product standards meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
Improve production quality, throughput, delivery performance, predictability and profitability through effective planning, metrics and training.
Establish and communicate clear metrics and targets to measure improvement.
Initiate tools and processes to minimize manufacturing costs and improve productivity through effective utilization of manpower, availability of equipment and materials and capital spending Develop and execute overall plant manufacturing strategies: Participate in planning, development, implementation & evaluation of strategic business and performance goals and objectives.
Include training, key operator skills assessment, bench strength and performance monitoring to sustain efficient operations.
Focus on standardized work and other lean manufacturing practices such as 5S Visual Communication.
Develop and deliver labor and VOH budget: Manage budget and cost controls considering changes in demand (volume), business seasonality and required service levels.
Identify manufacturing cost drivers and proactively adjust manpower and department expenses to achieve budget commitments.
Daily focus on yields report weekly actions/results focused on overall reduction and disposals.
Establish group and individual accountabilities across the manufacturing operations for problem solving and cost reduction.
Develop and implement new techniques that focus on fact based problem solving.
Ensure plants meet OSHA requirements and continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues as well as employee safety attitudes.
Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
Ensure compliance with all food regulatory requirements, and ensure adherence to food safety and GMP's.
Maintain superior scores on all SQF of other third party audits (customer driven).
Ensure all products meet product specifications and consumer / customer complaints are fully addressed.
Basic Qualifications Possesses formal education and /or extensive experience in the food industry.
Familiar with SQF, Food Safety and Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Plant Sanitation, FDA regulations.
Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent Food Manufacturing Experience.
Prior plant management experience.
