At Bellisio Foods, the R&D group is responsible for developing products from concept to commercialization.
The R&D Engineer – Commercialization will work closely with Product Development teams to identify and develop the new processes and technologies needed to bring new products to market.
The R&D Commercialization Engineer is also responsible for optimizing and upgrading current processes for cost savings and gains in efficiency, capability, reliability and safety across our Manufacturing and Distribution locations.
This position will interact as part of larger cross-functional teams including members of Operations, Marketing, Research & Development, Finance, Food Safety & Quality and other functions as appropriate.
Essential Functions Process Commercialization: Lead the production scale up of new/reformulated products and processes from the laboratory/bench/pilot scale into full production.
Process Development: Collaborate with R&D Scientists and Technologists during product development process to identify effective unit ops and create process flows that translate benchtop product to full production.
The engineer will also work to continually identify and implement improvements to processes and technologies.
Process Analysis: Gather and statistically analyze data to assess process efficiency and support recommendations, including current process assessment, qualification of process improvements and new product/process validation efforts.
Technology Pipeline Development: collaboration with outside parties (vendors, manufacturers, associations, academia, etc.
) to identify new technologies to improve existing processes or expand production capabilities Manage complexity, handle multiple priorities and prioritize accordingly A sense of urgency with high quality output is essential to the success of this position Ability to travel as needed Other job responsibilities as assigned Requirements >8 years of food processing and commercialization experience in the food industry, with experience in continuous improvement principles and utilization in statistical analysis and SPC BS Degree in Engineering (Food/Process/Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical) or related field Frozen food manufacturing experience is a plus Location Columbus, OH metro area or Jackson, Ohio Not remote-eligible Related Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to compile data, document work and prepare reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
